The Pool Safely Campaign was launched on May 24th, 2007 in Fort Lauderdale Florida with the goal to create a national conversation to prevent child drownings. The campaign is led by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and developed out of a requirement of the Virginia Graeme Baker Pool and Spa Safety Act, a federal law that went into effect in 2007. The campaign’s message is simple: just adding an extra safety step in and around the water can make all the difference. Your greatest water safety assurance comes from adopting and practicing as many water safety measures as possible. The Pool Safely Campaign serves as the information hub that supports national, regional and local organizations in children’s safety and drowning prevention communities as well as the general public.
